Just a few bits of information on our very friendly Ladies Section which you might find useful in your search for a golf club to join. (we think ours is excellent!!)
Ladies' competition days are primarily on Tuesday’s, although competitions are also held on a Sunday. In addition to handicap qualifying competitions the ladies enjoy a wide variety of relaxed formats including team, knockouts, mixed and social golf. There are also drawn competitions to bring the different handicap divisions together.
The membership covers a wide age range and levels of handicap. New members are encouraged and supported to obtain a handicap and to meet and join in with our other 100 or more lady members, not only with the golf but at the many social functions the Social Committee organise for the Club.
We have also created a developmental programme in order to support the development of beginner female golfers. It can often be quite daunting taking up golf or joining a golf club for the very first time. When you first start to learn golf, completing 18 holes can seem unachievable for some.
To that end we have created a Ladies Golf Academy, managed by Mark Norton one of our professional staff. Mark will develop your golf swing in a fun and interactive environment with other like minded women. You will take part in a structured developmental programme that will measure your progress and prepare you with the necessary knowledge and skills to take onto the golf course.
When you are ready to take the leap to membership. Mark will recommend you for 9 hole membership at the club. During this time you will be able to develop your game and have access to 9 hole competitions in order to obtain a handicap.
As a 9 hole member you will be able to play holes 1-6, 7A, 8A and 9A and use all the practice facilities including the Colt Course, Driving Range and the Clubhouse. As you improve and your confidence increases you will be able to apply for 18 hole membership.
Our working women are a really important part of the Ladies' Section and as such we run weekend competitions.
We are the current holders of the Northamptonshire County Scratch League and are always looking for low handicap golfers to join the team.
Not all our golf is serious! During the year we hold fun competitions, away days, invitation days, open competitions and friendly team matches against other clubs in the area. The friendly matches are popular and well supported.
Any other information you may need please contact our Club Manager who will be more than happy to answer any questions that you may have.
We have a thriving Junior Section staff at Northamptonshire County.
We welcome young golfers of all abilities from total beginner to single-handicap. The Club has a very active Junior Section, with young golfers ranging from 7 to 18 years of age.
We are incredibly proud of the achievements of our Juniors, and have been blessed in recent times with a wealth of talent. We run a number of club competitions specifically for Junior players.
Regular junior group coaching sessions are run by our PGA Professionals Mark Norton & Adam Myers. Please contact the Pro Shop for details.
Access to our Colt Course offers a great environment to support and develop junior golfers of all abilities. Our practice facilities are second to none and we feel that we can offer everything you need to develop your golf game.
The Colt Course is a hidden gem at Northants County, 6 holes varying in distances of 75-103 yards.
All tees and greens are artificial grass surfaces, allowing all year round use and replicate real greens in speed and spin. Such a facility provides juniors and beginners alike an ideal learning environment to practice their skills without being overawed. For the experienced golfer it provides a true test to their scoring ability with short irons and wedges. See more about Colt Course here.
This is for the par 3 Colt Course, practice facilities, free use of clubs if needed, opportunity of funded coaching and use of the Clubhouse.
